Comments from the voters:

  • A difficult technique to do in polymer clay!! But results are wonderful and funny.
  • Beth- Do not destroy this piece! It is beautiful. Sometimes the best things happen when you just go with it, and it turns out to be something completely unplanned. You should have a new name though. I see a lot of solar energy, not chaos! Good job.
  • Play sculpt live invited me...these are all wonderful.. I love the textures.
  • This was a toughie -- quilling isn't easy! Congrats to all for trying it!
  • Thanks for the wonderful and inspiring images.
  • Great work as always.
  • Tough challenge but well accomplished by all!
  • Wonderful work ladies ! Hard to pick 3 they were all great looking pieces.
  • Love these challenges. So much talent! I saw this post in the HOP group I belong to.
  • Your post appeared in my news feed, I think!
  • Saw you on Polymer Clay Tribe!
  • I love the beautiful colors and textures in this month’s quilling challenge.
  • Great work, everyone!
  • Kudos to all the artists - beautiful work!!
  • Awesome challenge, really great ideas for quilling in polymer clay in this lineup.
  • Great submissions this month!!
  • So many fun pieces! I had to use a coin toss to help me choose, they are all wonderful!

2. Bloom where you are planted Mixed Media Art by Arlene of HarrisonHollow.
The first step in creating this mixed media art piece was to create a gradient blend going from blue to green. This blend was applied to a 6x6 artist panel and a texture sheet was used to add interest. Then I mixed three shades of pink, mixed a little pink with yellow for the center and a nice green for the leaves. Then I cut strips from each color and began building my flower. The strips are about 1/4 inch wide This quilling technique was adapted from paper crafts.

3. Marc & I by Line of PlaySculptLive

4. Metallic Gauze Fiber Brooch No. 135  by Susan of 11BOLDstreet
The traditional forms of quilling are beautiful, but a bit too intricate and delicate for my personal style. So, I did it (quilling) in a BOLD manner, by using thick strips of polymer, and keeping the winding pattern very simple. A bit of my liquid polymer/gauze technique was included as a light-weight and visually interesting focal area. This piece is also a nod to Eva Haskova, whose distinctive method of winding strips of Skinner-blend polymer served as inspiration.

5. Chaos Wall Hanging by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns
Quilled and layered polymer image of a sun. To read more about this project, please visit my blog post: http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2016/05/chaos-how-good-intentions-can-go-awry.html

6. PCAGOE Quilling Challenge piece by Jackie of ThePleasantPheasant
For the June PCAGOE Quilling challenge, I let my mind wander! On a thin backing of clay, I created a wandering design, and added blue and white freshwater pearls, a vintage sapphire rhinestone, then placed it all on an 8" x 8" canvas, painted black. I added some microfine glitter and polka-dot ribbon on the edge of the canvas.

7. Nightlight for Kim by Betsy of StrebeDesigns
I wanted to make a nightlight for my daughter who recently redid one of her bathrooms in blue and white.  Integrating this month's PCAGOE's challenge theme "Quilling" was the perfect way to build a light and delicate design. For more about this piece please visit my blog post http://strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2016/05/a-nightlight-for-kim.html
