1. Trixie's Fairy cottage teapot by Lisa of HiGirls
 PCAGOE's Fairy House challenge
This little teapot is covered with textured clay and woodgrains, rocks, flowers and topped with a little June bug. See other views here:

Trixie has a window in the back of course!

2. Mushroom Fairy House  by Marie of MarieYoungCreative

This orange blossom fairy sits on the stoop of her mushroom hut. I imagine her dusting herself with pixie dust to squeeze inside. The hut is polymer over a duck egg and the fairy is all polymer except for gold filigree wings.

3. Fairy House Earrings by Jill of JKollmann
1 inch tall including the loop.

4. Sand Fairy House by Line of PlaySculptLive

Read more: http://playsculptlive.blogspot.ca/2015/07/watch-out-for-fairies.html

5. Fairy House by Freda of  FredaK

This Fairy House is constructed over a drinking glass.

6. At Home in the Enchanted Forest  by Arlene of Ashpaints
This fairy house started its life as a glass vase from the local general store. Then a layer of "stone" was added using a shadow cane technique. The windows and door were added, then all the foresty elements to make the fairy feel really at home. For more information on how this fairy house was made, check out my blog at http://harrisonhollowdesigns.blogspot.com/2015/07/at-home-in-enchanted-forest.html

7. Fairy in a Bottle House by Betsy of StrebeDesigns

As a child I always colored outside the lines. Some things never change! Fairy in a Bottle House is made of polymer clay over a sake bottle. It is about 10" tall and is purely for fun. It has no function but to make you smile.. Making a fairy house for the PCAGOE challenge was way outside my comfort zone, so I am kinda happy with the results. For more views and a peek into the process see my blog post http://strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/07/fairy-in-bottle-house.html

8. Fairy House by Linda of Claymation3d

Fairy House. Polymer clay over wood birdhouse. It's a flower top birdhouse. Flower petals are each cut from copper mesh wire covered with shades of purples and applied one by one to make the flower on top. The "cobble stone" walls are textured with alcohol ink applied. There is a cute little fairy checking out the opening of the house. I think she's going to move in.

9. She sells Seashells by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns

Hand sculpted beach themed fairy house, all of these items were made from polymer. To read the story behind this piece, learn about the creative process and see more photos, please go to my blog:  http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2015/07/she-sells-seashells.html

July Texture Plate Challenge

To see larger images visit:

For our July challenge we are featuring Texture Plates. Each entry has two photos, the plates themselves and something the artist created with the plate. Vote for your favorites. One lucky voter will be chosen in a drawing to win a gift certificate from one of our sponsor shops.

1. From Black and White to Color by Lisa of HiGirls
Two 5 x 5 canvases are covered with the impressions from the texture plate created using scrap clay over a base. I like the ability to create multiples and it reminds me of lino cuts or woodblock prints. Black and white version is highlighted with white paint. Color version has been painted with tinted liquid polymer clay.

2. Bronze Copper Stamped Set No. 113 by Susan of 11BOLDstreet
A 1/4" thick sheet of polymer was textured using these ball-tipped tools, leaving some blank areas. After curing, I used the Speedball Lino tool to carve the ridges. 4"x5. This set from my texture plate was stamped into a custom metallic polymer blend and cured. Following antiquing with acrylics, I rubbed Gilder's Paste across the high spots and sealed. Read about the process on my blog: www.11boldstreet.com/2015/06/texture-plate-challenge.html

3. Ms. Cat in the Hat by Betsy of StrebeDesigns
After taking Lisa Renner's workshop in the Polymer Clay Adventure retreat I knew I wanted to do a sculpture. I love cats so the vision was born. Ms. Cat is 9" tall. To see the development of "Ms. Cat in the Hat" along with other views and links to the resources I used visit my blog post ... strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/06/cat-in-hat.html

4. Clay in Motion Pendant by Arlene of Ashpaints

This is the texture sheet that I made for the challenge using Sculpey Bake and Bend. It will actually wrap to a degree around an object to create a texture. The pendant was created using the handmade texture sheet. The texture sheet was made from Sculpey Bake and Bend, which gives it some flexibility when cured. Some of the clay was run through an extruder to get long thin strings of clay that were used to create the design on the texture sheet. These strings of clay (referred to as snakes) were used to create the design shown here. Silver acrylic paint was painted on, then wiped off so that the silver stayed down in the valleys while the beautiful blue blend of clay shows through.

5. Patches Texture Card Holder by Marie of MarieYoungCreative
I love the design on my texture plate, but I hated the impression of it. It lost the style when innies became outies. To get back to the original vision, I took a mold of the second version which allowed me to duplicate the original design. You can read about what I used to make the impressions here: http://marieyoungcreative.com/creating-with-texture-plates

6. Flower Note Card by Line of PlaySculptLive
Read more: http://playsculptlive.blogspot.ca/2015/06/a-challenge-by-any-other-name.html

7. Colorful Mosaic Business Card Case by Angela of polymerclaycreations
I first started by drawing my design onto a raw sheet of Sculpey Elasticlay. After I baked the sheet I use my linoleum cutter to carve all the lines out. I made a second sheet from the first to have an "outie" image. The card case was made with a colorful Monet cane sheet then stamped with the texture sheet I had carved. I highlighted the raised areas with gold Rub-Buff wax finish.

8. Polymer Art Prints by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns
Hand made polymer texture plate was created to impress into clay and create these pieces of printed polymer art. To read more about this project please visit my blog: http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2015/06/polymer-art-printing.html

9. Barley Texture Beads by Jill of JKollmann
Texture sheet using barley to create voids.

June Challenge Retro

For our June challenge we are featuring Retro - anything from the 50's to the 80's. Vote for your favorites. Three lucky voters will be chosen in a drawing to win a gift certificate from one of our sponsor shops.

Larger images available here:

1. Mid Century Mod Necklace by Lisa of HiGirls
Inspired by home decor trends of the 1950s, this polymer necklace is a deep turquoise piece with carved design highlighted with black acrylic paint. Hand rolled mod bi cones are strung on black wire. All sanded and buffed to a soft sheen.

2. Glory Days Monkey Astronaut by Marie of MarieYoungCreative
I was trying to think of what I wanted to enter in the PCAGOE challenge "Retro" when the latest issue of Smithsonian magazine arrived. The cover featured a cute retro spaceman toy and somehow that translated to monkey astronaut in my head. Read more about its creation: http://marieyoungcreative.com/monkey-astronaut/

3. Flower Power Votive Holder by Arlene of Ashpaints
What is more fun - and more retro - than these simple layered flowers done in bright fun colors to remind us of the hippy days of the 70s. The flowers are textured to add just a big more interest then an acrylic glaze is used to bring out the designs. The flowers are mounted on a 3 inch glass votive holder.

4Hippie Boho Bracelet by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns
Macrame bracelet with polymer focal, accent beads and button closure, a throwback to the 1960s. To read more about this project (including a little polymer jewelry tip), please view my blog post: http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2015/05/relaxed-simple-boho-hippie-style-little.html

5. Pearl by Line of PlaySculptLive
Read more: http://playsculptlive.blogspot.ca/2015/05/pearl.html

6. Heirloom Cuff by Jill of JKollmann
This was inspired by the wide range of cuffs and bracelets in the jewelry collections of our grandmothers and great aunts. The challenge theme "Retro" brought this interpretation to mind. All polymer clay.

7. Retro Jukebox Music Box by Betsy of StrebeDesigns
Made for the PCAGOE June challenge "retro".  This vintage looking jukebox is a music box that plays "Yesterday" by the Beatles.  jukeboxes were a big part of my high school years and I wanted to capture those memories in this piece.  For more views and background visit my blog at http://strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/05/retro-jukebox-music-box.html

From the Recycle Bin: PCAGOE January Challenge

This month PCAGOE artists were given the theme, "From the Recycle Bin."  They could create anything that contained at least 50% polymer clay and fit the challenge criteria - recycled, repurposed, reused.

Vote and Win!
Three lucky winners will be selected in a drawing of all non-member voters and will be able to choose a prize offered by our member shops sponsoring this month's challenge. See the list of participating sponsors and prizes.

And the entries are:

1.  Nest Egg Jar by Betsy of PolyClayCafe
This is a repurposed creamy horseradish jar. I was thinking a little jar for change when I started. Then I decided to put a bird's nest on the lid with pretty blue eggs. Result is the "Nest Egg Jar"

2.  Vintage Daisy by Charlie of MaisieClay
Vintage hand stamped polymer clay beads mixed with an up cycled vintage necklace.

3.  Beneath the Surface by Janet of RussellAmarillo
This vase has 2 distinct sides to it. One side has vivid colors. Both in the yellow with purple fish, and coral below. The second side is shades of green plant life, with more pastel coral. Also, rock is Mokume gold leaf in translucent clay. This fish is done in pewter, silver and antique gold. There is beach sand mixed with the clay I used for ocean bottom and the off white coral. Black sand is scattered along with actual shells from the beach to complete ocean floor.
Water background was done with Blue Diamond liquid glass.

4.  Calico Clock by Marcia of marcympc
Recycled millifiori canes created this design: discarded pansy and cornflower canes were extruded into square snakes. These were then stacked randomly into a new cane 5 squares high x 5 squares wide. Slices from this new cane were applied to a sheet of grey/lavender clay that was used to cover a ceramic tile. I was surprised to see that tiny flowers still appeared within the pattern. Pinks, blues and reds from the original flower canes combine to give an overall purple effect from a distance.

5.  Northern Nativity by Line of PlaySculptLive
For this recycling challenge, I decided on a bowl. To make the form of the bowl I used the paper I get from the books I order. there is always lots of that stuff. I shaped the paper like a bowl and covered it with clay. I wanted to go for the look of ice and all its variant colors of blue. In the bowl there is a crystal sculpture of Mary, Joseph and Jesus. It belonged to a glass nativity scene that broke in storage. Reusing at its best.

6.  Recycled Vessels by Susan of 11BOLDstreet
I used plastic caps from shaving gel cans as the base forms for these two lidded vessels. They are covered with previously sheeted polymer mokume gane in colors which coordinate with the purple and orange caps.

7.  Eye Pencil Shavings Pendants by Marie of YoungCreative
These pendents are created using shards of eye pencil shavings that I retrieved from my sharpener. The shavings became inclusion bits mixed into translucent clay, adding texture and color.

8.  Recycled Filigree Tree by  Beth of CreateMyWorld
Using an old beater from a hand mixer that died, covered with liquid polymer and adorned with "quilled" polymer scrolls. To read more about the story behind this creation, please go to my blog post: createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2013/12/recycled-christ...

9.  Rose and Gold Necklace by Lisa of HiGirls
This time of year in my house there are a lot of burned out bulbs-this year they ended up on the clay table! The large pendant is a candle bulb which utilizes a vintage end cap. The smaller charms are miniature light bulbs. Even the clay has been recycled on this piece, as it is a re-made mokume mix that I think looks a lot like some kind of stone with metallic soft gold and shades of red and rose. Sanded and buffed to a soft sheen.

10. Recycled Mosaic Treasure Box by Arlene  of Ashpaints
This recycled wooden cigar box is sporting a new look with a custom mosaic design featuring one of my favorite sayings: Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a Butterfly. Isn't that a beautiful thought. The mosaic design uses mostly blues and greens but has touches of the rainbow. A fleur-de-lis border finishes the edges.

11. Pink translucent petals with recycled pink pearls by Mary of Maryclaires
The pearls are recycled from the Oakland Museum annual junk sale and the petals are polymer clay.

12. Garden Kaleidoscope Vase by Jill Stone of Beautified Essentials
Reused maple syrup jar into a vase. All my original canes (leaves, sunflower, and flower petals combined to make the kaleidoscope cane).

September Challenge: Pink

Scroll to the bottom of the post to vote for your favorites!

The theme for the September PCAGOE Challenge is Pink. Yes, we are a little early for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, but when we heard that one of our own was diagnosed with breast cancer, we wanted to show our support.

And the entries are:
Voting form is at the bottom of this post. It may take a minute for it to appear. Click on the titles to see a larger image.

1 - Sweet and Stripes by Els of Beadelz
"Because I am leaving for three weeks vacation I didn't have time to make a special creation for the "pink challenge". But I didn't want to skip this month's challenge because the theme is so special. So I decided to send in this earlier made pendant which is for almost 50% pink!"

2 - Pink Rose Earrings by Jill of JKay Jewelry
" I wanted to make something pink and pretty, and happy or uplifting. These are tiny - the flower drops are barely 1/2 inch."

3 - Pink Ribbons Lace Box & Pendant by Cindy of Arrowdale Art Studio
"This is my entry into the September challenge of the PCAGOE, "Pink," in honor of our own Guild member, Kelly and all those who are fighting or have fought breast cancer. I made the box from a cardboard frame and baked it around the frame, tearing the frame out after curing. I pleated ribbons of clay to make the gathers around the bottom, and for the lid, I embossed it with a texture sheet of Chantilly lace, then after curing I painted it with antiquing, then removed all of the surface treatment, leaving only the white in the crevices. The pendant is a simple ribbon of clay, with a gold filled bail. The back (not shown) is also textured and antiqued to match the lid of the box."

4 -For Kelly by Linda of NKDesigns
"This is for my friend Kelly. I wanted to bead the necklace part, but I just ran out of time. I will do it and send it to her as a gift. Love you Kelly."

5 - Pink Bird of Hope by Phoebe of Happy Creations
"I chose to make this pink bird holding the pink breast cancer ribbon to give hope to all of those wonderful women who are battling or have battled a fight with breast cancer. This bird is hand sculpted with a blend of polymer clay. It has slight pearliness to it. I coated the little pink ribbon with some fine pink glitter for sparkle. The bird hangs from a bright pink satin ribbon."

6 - Pink and Brass Napkin Rings by Lisa of HiGirls
"These brass napkin rings have been covered in a pink mother-of-pearl polymer clay treatment.
My entry for PCAGOE's PINK challenge in honor of Kelly."

7 - Spiral Earrings by Berit of ClayCenter
"A pair of earrings made with my own swirly lentil beads. My entry into the "pink" challenge in honor of Kelly."

8 - Rolled Beads with Pink Cabochon Choker by Susan of 11BoldStreet
"This entry for the PCAGOE September Challenge incorporates shades of pink and rose. Rolled polymer beads are echoed by the rolled silver metal clay bead, which serves as a bail."

9 - Flying Pig by Becky of BeckySueCreations
"His wings are so small he will have a hard time getting off the ground."

10 - Spring Renewal Pendant by Jan of Jan Geisen
"This is my entry for the Pink monthly PCAGOE challenge. It is a polymer clay collage containing elements with subtle impressions of leaves and plant stems, plus mokume gane leaves."

11 - Art Nouveau Fan Brooch by Marie of YoungCreative
"Mokume Gane made from thin layers of pink, hot pink, and silver in honor of Kelly. The top stamped silver layer was sliced away to reveal the pattern beneath."

12 - Pink Rose Necklace by Lorraine of wiredorchid
"This is my entry for the PCAGOE August Challenge: Pink, in honor of one of our best, Kelly, who is battling breast cancer. It's created from polymer clay using the mokume gane technique. I thought long and hard about this challenge. I wanted to create a hopeful piece. I chose a rose, to show Kelly and all women who battle this disease that after this life challenge, they will bloom again.
"...just remember in the winter far beneath the bitter snows
lies the seed that with the sun's love in the spring becomes the rose.''
~ from ''The Rose'' by Bette Midler

13 - Laughter Breast Cancer Mosaic by Arlene of Ashpaints
"I've often heard that laughter is the best medicine! Since this month's PINK challenge is in honor of one of our members currently undergoing treatment, the combination of the breast cancer ribbon and the "Never regret anything that makes you laugh" phrase is right on target. The original breast cancer ribbon was hand-sculpted and cured, then a mold was made out of flexible clay. Each of the mosaic tiles were created using clay, acrylic paint and a gold wax enhancer. The black and white seed beads add an extra touch of dimension and interest. All are mounted on a wooden self-easel."

14 - Mother, Daughter and the Spirit of Renewal by Line of playsculptlive
"This amulet is made to honor all women in our constant struggle for life. It was made especially for a member of the pcagoe who is battling with breast cancer right now. All the best Kelley."

15 - Pink Heart Necklace for Kelly by Jackie of The Pleasant Pheasant
"This is my entry for the PCAGOE September Challenge: Pink, in honor of our friend Kelly who is battling breast cancer. It's created from polymer clay using the Imprint Mokume Gane technique."

16 - Pods in Pink by Melanie of Treasured Toad
"Hollow, layered polymer clay "pod" beads with sterling silver accents, spacers and chain. My entry for the PCAGOE September 2011 "Pink" challenge."

17 - Touch of Folk Art Tin by Deb of RenGalSA
"Here is wishing Kelly all the peace, love, and happiness that life brings! ROCK ON!"
Several of the entries are available for sale in our members' store. Please visit the individual shops to see these and other wonderful listings.
