1. Trixie's Fairy cottage teapot by Lisa of HiGirls
 PCAGOE's Fairy House challenge
This little teapot is covered with textured clay and woodgrains, rocks, flowers and topped with a little June bug. See other views here:

Trixie has a window in the back of course!

2. Mushroom Fairy House  by Marie of MarieYoungCreative

This orange blossom fairy sits on the stoop of her mushroom hut. I imagine her dusting herself with pixie dust to squeeze inside. The hut is polymer over a duck egg and the fairy is all polymer except for gold filigree wings.

3. Fairy House Earrings by Jill of JKollmann
1 inch tall including the loop.

4. Sand Fairy House by Line of PlaySculptLive

Read more: http://playsculptlive.blogspot.ca/2015/07/watch-out-for-fairies.html

5. Fairy House by Freda of  FredaK

This Fairy House is constructed over a drinking glass.

6. At Home in the Enchanted Forest  by Arlene of Ashpaints
This fairy house started its life as a glass vase from the local general store. Then a layer of "stone" was added using a shadow cane technique. The windows and door were added, then all the foresty elements to make the fairy feel really at home. For more information on how this fairy house was made, check out my blog at http://harrisonhollowdesigns.blogspot.com/2015/07/at-home-in-enchanted-forest.html

7. Fairy in a Bottle House by Betsy of StrebeDesigns

As a child I always colored outside the lines. Some things never change! Fairy in a Bottle House is made of polymer clay over a sake bottle. It is about 10" tall and is purely for fun. It has no function but to make you smile.. Making a fairy house for the PCAGOE challenge was way outside my comfort zone, so I am kinda happy with the results. For more views and a peek into the process see my blog post http://strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/07/fairy-in-bottle-house.html

8. Fairy House by Linda of Claymation3d

Fairy House. Polymer clay over wood birdhouse. It's a flower top birdhouse. Flower petals are each cut from copper mesh wire covered with shades of purples and applied one by one to make the flower on top. The "cobble stone" walls are textured with alcohol ink applied. There is a cute little fairy checking out the opening of the house. I think she's going to move in.

9. She sells Seashells by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns

Hand sculpted beach themed fairy house, all of these items were made from polymer. To read the story behind this piece, learn about the creative process and see more photos, please go to my blog:  http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2015/07/she-sells-seashells.html

July Texture Plate Challenge

To see larger images visit:

For our July challenge we are featuring Texture Plates. Each entry has two photos, the plates themselves and something the artist created with the plate. Vote for your favorites. One lucky voter will be chosen in a drawing to win a gift certificate from one of our sponsor shops.

1. From Black and White to Color by Lisa of HiGirls
Two 5 x 5 canvases are covered with the impressions from the texture plate created using scrap clay over a base. I like the ability to create multiples and it reminds me of lino cuts or woodblock prints. Black and white version is highlighted with white paint. Color version has been painted with tinted liquid polymer clay.

2. Bronze Copper Stamped Set No. 113 by Susan of 11BOLDstreet
A 1/4" thick sheet of polymer was textured using these ball-tipped tools, leaving some blank areas. After curing, I used the Speedball Lino tool to carve the ridges. 4"x5. This set from my texture plate was stamped into a custom metallic polymer blend and cured. Following antiquing with acrylics, I rubbed Gilder's Paste across the high spots and sealed. Read about the process on my blog: www.11boldstreet.com/2015/06/texture-plate-challenge.html

3. Ms. Cat in the Hat by Betsy of StrebeDesigns
After taking Lisa Renner's workshop in the Polymer Clay Adventure retreat I knew I wanted to do a sculpture. I love cats so the vision was born. Ms. Cat is 9" tall. To see the development of "Ms. Cat in the Hat" along with other views and links to the resources I used visit my blog post ... strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/06/cat-in-hat.html

4. Clay in Motion Pendant by Arlene of Ashpaints

This is the texture sheet that I made for the challenge using Sculpey Bake and Bend. It will actually wrap to a degree around an object to create a texture. The pendant was created using the handmade texture sheet. The texture sheet was made from Sculpey Bake and Bend, which gives it some flexibility when cured. Some of the clay was run through an extruder to get long thin strings of clay that were used to create the design on the texture sheet. These strings of clay (referred to as snakes) were used to create the design shown here. Silver acrylic paint was painted on, then wiped off so that the silver stayed down in the valleys while the beautiful blue blend of clay shows through.

5. Patches Texture Card Holder by Marie of MarieYoungCreative
I love the design on my texture plate, but I hated the impression of it. It lost the style when innies became outies. To get back to the original vision, I took a mold of the second version which allowed me to duplicate the original design. You can read about what I used to make the impressions here: http://marieyoungcreative.com/creating-with-texture-plates

6. Flower Note Card by Line of PlaySculptLive
Read more: http://playsculptlive.blogspot.ca/2015/06/a-challenge-by-any-other-name.html

7. Colorful Mosaic Business Card Case by Angela of polymerclaycreations
I first started by drawing my design onto a raw sheet of Sculpey Elasticlay. After I baked the sheet I use my linoleum cutter to carve all the lines out. I made a second sheet from the first to have an "outie" image. The card case was made with a colorful Monet cane sheet then stamped with the texture sheet I had carved. I highlighted the raised areas with gold Rub-Buff wax finish.

8. Polymer Art Prints by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns
Hand made polymer texture plate was created to impress into clay and create these pieces of printed polymer art. To read more about this project please visit my blog: http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2015/06/polymer-art-printing.html

9. Barley Texture Beads by Jill of JKollmann
Texture sheet using barley to create voids.

June Challenge Retro

For our June challenge we are featuring Retro - anything from the 50's to the 80's. Vote for your favorites. Three lucky voters will be chosen in a drawing to win a gift certificate from one of our sponsor shops.

Larger images available here:

1. Mid Century Mod Necklace by Lisa of HiGirls
Inspired by home decor trends of the 1950s, this polymer necklace is a deep turquoise piece with carved design highlighted with black acrylic paint. Hand rolled mod bi cones are strung on black wire. All sanded and buffed to a soft sheen.

2. Glory Days Monkey Astronaut by Marie of MarieYoungCreative
I was trying to think of what I wanted to enter in the PCAGOE challenge "Retro" when the latest issue of Smithsonian magazine arrived. The cover featured a cute retro spaceman toy and somehow that translated to monkey astronaut in my head. Read more about its creation: http://marieyoungcreative.com/monkey-astronaut/

3. Flower Power Votive Holder by Arlene of Ashpaints
What is more fun - and more retro - than these simple layered flowers done in bright fun colors to remind us of the hippy days of the 70s. The flowers are textured to add just a big more interest then an acrylic glaze is used to bring out the designs. The flowers are mounted on a 3 inch glass votive holder.

4Hippie Boho Bracelet by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns
Macrame bracelet with polymer focal, accent beads and button closure, a throwback to the 1960s. To read more about this project (including a little polymer jewelry tip), please view my blog post: http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2015/05/relaxed-simple-boho-hippie-style-little.html

5. Pearl by Line of PlaySculptLive
Read more: http://playsculptlive.blogspot.ca/2015/05/pearl.html

6. Heirloom Cuff by Jill of JKollmann
This was inspired by the wide range of cuffs and bracelets in the jewelry collections of our grandmothers and great aunts. The challenge theme "Retro" brought this interpretation to mind. All polymer clay.

7. Retro Jukebox Music Box by Betsy of StrebeDesigns
Made for the PCAGOE June challenge "retro".  This vintage looking jukebox is a music box that plays "Yesterday" by the Beatles.  jukeboxes were a big part of my high school years and I wanted to capture those memories in this piece.  For more views and background visit my blog at http://strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/05/retro-jukebox-music-box.html

April Challenge Covering Something with Clay

For our April challenge we are featuring Covering Something with Clay. Vote for your favorites. Three lucky voters will be chosen in a drawing to win a gift certificate from one of our sponsor shops.

http://www.flickr.com/groups/1089891@N25/

1. Counter Top Soap Dispenser by Brenda of BjeeWilson
Born from an ordinary coffee drink bottle, covered with different shapes and textures of polymer clay, and given a new life as a soap or lotion dispenser. Re-using ordinarily discarded glass vessels is my favorite thing to do. I especially enjoy covering them with polymer clay to create a new and innovative item to extend their life.

2. Hand Carved Polymer Clay Covered Glass Vase by Angela of polymerclaycreations
A while back I saw a video of candle dipping and carving and thought I wanted to try that in clay. Here is my version of hand dipping and carving. I used a 10 inch glass vase and added 5 layers of different colored clays and then carved, cut and twisted it all over.
This is my entry into the PCAGOE monthly challenge. The theme for the month is covering something.

3. Fancy Lantern  by Lisa of HiGirls
PCAGOE Challenge: Cover something
Pearl white clay with all kinds of detail covers most of this lantern. The glass has fun leafy shapes in tinted translucent clay that glows when a candle is lit inside.
For more views : www.flickr.com/photos/39493796@N08/

4. Fairy House by Freda of  FredaK
This Fairy House is constructed over a drinking glass.

5. Feelin' Groovy Covered Bottle by Betsy of StrebeDesigns
This upcycled bottle was given a new life for the April PCAGOE challenge to cover something with clay.  I wanted to do something unpredictable, nothing neat and lined up and symmetrical. I decided to combine two techniques I recently learned from the Polymer Clay Adventure series http://craftylink.ning.com/get-involved/polymer-clay-adventure.  The techniques involved "Cane Mutiny" with Teresa Pandora Salgado and "Polymer Painting" with Suzanne Ivester.  You can learn more about the process and see more views on my NEW blog at http://strebedesigns.blogspot.com/2015/03/feelin-groovy-covered-bottle-simply.html

6. Challenging Challenge Dispenser by Susan of 11BOLDstreet
I wanted a container to dispense sunscreen at our lake trailer, so I made a mokume gane block in the olive and blues of that color scheme. Deciding to cover a plastic shave lotion bottle was rather a task - it's melting point was just at the edge of polymer's curing temp. The bottom deformed a bit, and I had to screw the cap onto a hot base to reform the threads. But, all is well... stamping ink and metallic Lumiere paint adds a bit of bling. The large indents are part of the bottle design, and I chose to accentuate them. The silver "wave" element at the top will match the new bathroom silver backsplash.

7. Covered Glass Bottle Journey by Linda of Claymation3d
This polymer clay covered glass bottle journey began with a Skinner blend foundation of clay. Glass cabochons, more blends of clay and textures were worked over the top. Splashes of color were inserted using inks, micro beads, freshwater pearls and a few real shells.

8. Tissue Cover by Marcy of marcympc
A tissue cover created for my home trying out several techniques I hadn't used before. Purple and turquoise plus a nature theme.

9. Green Tea Pot by Berit of ClayImages
Small Tea Pot covered with my original polymer clay cane designs. Sanded smooth and varnished. My entry into the PCAGOE April challenge.

10. Dragonfly Journal by Arlene of Ashpaints
This challenge piece came to mind because the theme was Cover Something with Polymer Clay. So I decided to create a "cover" for a journal. This piece incorporates one of my favorite sayings "Take Time to Enjoy the Simple Things in Life" and a beautiful dragonfly stamped design. It is layered on top to two textured panels and for a whimsical touch I added flowers. The color scheme was copper patina. The journal itself measures 8 inches x 6 inches.

11. Fairy House by Line of PlaySculptLive
12. Faux Stained Glass Lampshade by Beth of CreateMyWorldDesigns
Made to coordinate with the first quilt I made (a wall hanging). Polymer covers a glass lampshade. To learn more about this project including a detailed tutorial to make your own, visit my blog post here: http://createmyworlddesigns.blogspot.com/2015/03/a-promise-kept-free-tutorial.html

September Challenge -- METALLIC

Scroll to the bottom of the post to vote for your favorites!

For this month's challenge our artists could use whatever method they wanted to achieve a "metallic" appearance as long as the piece contained 50% polymer clay. Take a look at the unique interpretations!

Vote and Win!
Three lucky winners will be selected in a drawing of all non-member voters and will be able to choose a prize offered by our member shops sponsoring this month's challenge. See the list of participating sponsors and prizes.

And the entries are:

TO VOTE: scroll to bottom of post.

1 - Metallic Garden Necklace by Linda of NK Designs
This is my entry into the September Challenge for the Polymer Clay Artists Guild of Etsy. The topic is metallic so I used metallic gold clay for some of the flowers, metallic bronze and copper clay for the layers and copper leafing around the pendant. There also are copper findings and two matching beads along with Swarovski crystals in the necklace.

2.  Mixed Metal Vessel 129 by Sue of 11BOLDstreet
For this "Metallics" challenge, I chose to layer bronzey-gold metallic polymer over a layered base. Mica powder was brushed over the stamped high points, and mica-tinted liquid polymer was brushed over black polymer areas to simulate aged, patina-ed metal. Rivets were added for fun :)
4 1/2" H.

3.  Industrial Chic Light Switch Plate by Marie of YoungCreative
I love how the "soft and hard" marry beautifully in this piece. Each layer of the frame is an individually cut piece of silver clay, layered on top each other and then highlighted with a silver alcohol ink. The glass-like blue center is mokume gane with thin sheets of blue and translucent clay layered with silver foil.

4. Metallic Themed Earrings by Jill of JKollmann
These are made from Sherry Serafini's "Arizona Sunset Earrings" tutorial, but with a polymer twist. The square capstone, the two cabochons, and all of the dangles are polymer clay. The dangles got the patina treatment. They are 4 inches long, excluding the leverback findings.

This necklace is made of Premo clay. The five 2 inch disks are embossed on both sides with pigments and paint. The smaller beads show the mica patterns of the clay itself. The necklace is 24 inches long.

This is my entry in the September PCAGOE challenge - Metallics. I wanted to try my hand at Bettina's wonderful pixelated retro cane, so pulled out some old discontinued copper that I had been hoarding for a dark contrast to the gold and silver. With my leftovers, I made a Stroppel Cane and a metallic version of my magic swirl cane. I accented the joints with some 'stitched' gold rope. The shine is incredible!

I've been noticing a lot of owls lately so I chose the owl for the Metal Challenge. He created his own expression but he reminds me of a soldier, standing guard and wondering what else could happen to him. He's cute.

8. RUSTic Knot by Beth of CreateMyWorld
For this month's PCAGOE Metallic challenge, I wanted to create a polymer clay piece that had the look of rusting metal. This chunky rusted knot pendant necklace was the result of my experimenting. The pendant is hung on an upcycled piece of jute cord that was harvested from an old nautical piece of jewelry, thus the varied colors in the jute which add to the rustic and old feel of the necklace.

This polymer clay pendant was made in a group with other clayers. The person in charge of the oven didn't watch the temp and my piece got slightly burned. I really like the mistake!

I used 4 different shades of purple, pearl metallic and transparent clay along with silver leaf to make this votive cup with matching shade.

Flowered vessel with faux metal draping - this is my entry for the PCAGOE Metallic Challenge for September 2012.

12. Metallic Dragon by Kimberly of Kidalski
